I have always been a huge fan of Corvette, since the C3 series, it has always been one of my favorite car, and for those who have no idea what I’m talking about, I leave you a photo to help you to understand…
Of course, almost 40 years have passed between the two series, reaching the last generation of the C7 that I had the chance to try.
I was in Los Angeles for about 10 days, and what better place than California to try a Corvette? So I found the Corvette special model from Hertz for their centenary… a C7 latest version for 2019, yellow and black… and I went to get it the same day!
From the photo you can probably understand the impatience I had to drive this Supercar that I dreamed of for years…
One thing that didn’t always drive me crazy about the Corvette was its interior, but once I got into the cockpit, I was able to admire the great change that had occurred between the C6 and C7.
The dashboard is completely driver oriented, the entire central control and screen block is also slightly facing the driver’s side. The steering wheel is very nice, the flat bottom and the yellow sewing stitches make it really sporty, and I assure you that it is smaller than it seems in the picture…
The display is analogical on both sides, while in the center the digital panel has different set ups, from the most classic counter, to the classic Corvette racing mode…
But now let’s talk about performance, because surely the Corvette does not go unnoticed for its beauty, but also the sportiness of this supercar is absolutely one of the best qualities.
And on the other hand the numbers speak for themselves: 650 horses literally attach you to the seat during acceleration, where from 0 to 62 mph it takes less than 3 seconds…
The road holding, despite the rear wheel drive and the high power, is absolutely impeccable, thanks also to the tires, really generous both at the front and in particular at the rear. I noticed it when I got home and had to park it in the garage…
The rear of the Corvette is also beautiful, where we find the classic optical group of the C7, innovative compared to the double round light of the C6, and the very sporty extractor.
If we really want to find a weak point to this car, we can say is the gearbox when kept in automatic and normal mode. It has the tendency to keep a rather low torque for such powerful car, but once the sport mode is back on, everything changes; my advice is to keep the gearbox in manual and use the paddles on the steering wheel…
It was a real daydream to go around on the Pacific Coast Highway from Los Angeles to Malibu on this Corvette…
But even just going around Beverly Hills with the Corvette, it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed…
Really a great experience and a dream came true, as well as a really interesting and fun test drive that made me fall in love with this car even more.

Sono sempre stato un grandissimo fan della Corvette, fin dalla serie C3, é sempre stata una delle mie auto preferite, e per chi non ha idea di cosa stia parlando, vi lascio una foto per aiutarvi a capire…
Ovviamente tra le due versioni sono passati quasi 40 anni, arrivando fino all’ultima generazione della C7 che ho avuto la possibilità di provare.
Mi trovavo a Los Angeles per circa 10 giorni, e quale miglior posto se non la California per provare una Corvette? Cosí ho trovato da Hertz la Corvette modello speciale per il loro centenario… una C7 ultima versione per il 2019, gialla e nera… e sono andato a prenderla il giorno stesso!
Dalla foto probabilmente si capisce l’impazienza che avevo di guidare questa Supercar che sognavo da anni…
Una cosa che non mi aveva fatto sempre impazzire della Corvette, erano i suoi interni, ma una volta calatomi nell’abitacolo, ho potuto ammirare il grande cambiamento che c’é stato tra C6 e C7 al livello di interni.
La plancia é completamente incentrata sul guidatore, anche tutto il blocco centrale dei comandi e dello schermo é leggermente rivolto al lato del pilota.
Il volante é molto belo, le cuciture a contrasto e il taglio sotto lo rendono davvero sportivo, e vi assicuro che é piú piccolo di quello che sembra in foto…
Il display é analogico sui due lati, mentre al centro il riquadro digitale ha diverse modalitá, dal piú classico contagiri che sembra analogico, alla modalitá racing classica di Corvette…
Ma passiamo ora a parlare delle prestazioni, perché sicuramente la Corvette non passa inosservata per la sua bellezza, ma anche la sportivitá di questa supercar é in assoluto una delle doti migliori.
E d’altronde i numeri parlano da se: 650 cavalli ti attaccano letteralmente al sedile in fase di accelerazione, dove da 0 a 100 km/h ci si mette meno di 3 secondi…
La tenuta di strada, nonostante la trazione posteriore e l’elevata potenza, é assolutamente impeccabile, complice anche gli pneumatici, davvero generosi sia all’anteriore che in particolare al posteriore. Lo ho notato quando sono rientrato a casa e l’ho dovuta parcheggiare in garage…
Bellissimo anche il taglio posteriore della Corvette, dove ritroviamo il classico gruppo ottico della C7, innovativo rispetto alla doppia luce tonda della C6, e lo scarico decisamente sportivo.
Se proprio vogliamo trovare un difetto a questa macchina, possiamo dire che il cambio potrebbe essere un po’ il punto debole quando tenuto in automatico e modalitá normale. Giustamente la tendenza é quella di tenere un regime di giri piuttosto basso per una macchina del genere, ovviamente per risparmiare sui consumi elevati, ma una volta messa la modalitá sport tutto cambia; il mio consiglio é quello di tenere il cambio in manuale e usare i paddle al volante…
E’ stato un vero e proprio sogno ad occhi aperti andare in giro sulla Pacific Coast Highway da Los Angeles a Malibu su questa Corvette…
Ma anche solo andare in giro per Beverly Hills con la Corvette, non si passa di certo inosservati…
Davvero un’esperienza grandiosa e un sogno divenuto realtà, oltre che un test drive davvero interessante e divertente che mi ha fatto innamorare ancora di piú di questa auto.
